Die Maintenance and Usage Precautions

Proper care and handling of your die will ensure accurate sample preparation and extend the lifespan of the tool. Please follow these guidelines:

1. Cleaning Before Use

Remove Protective Oil: Before using the die, always wipe all surfaces clean with a lint-free wiper or soft paper.

Why: The die is coated with rust preventative oil for storage. This oil must be completely removed to prevent contamination of your sample and test results.

2. Operating Precautions

Respect Pressure Limits: Never apply pressure exceeding the maximum rated load of the die. Over-pressurizing can cause permanent damage or breakage.

3. Cleaning After Use

Immediate Cleaning: After pressing is complete, clean the die immediately to remove any sample residue.

Why: Many sample materials can be corrosive or hygroscopic. Leaving residue on the die surface can lead to pitting, rust, or damage over time.

4. Storage (Long-Term)

Apply Rust Preventive: If the die will not be used for an extended period, apply a thin, even coat of high-quality rust preventative oil to all metal surfaces.

Store in a Dry Environment: Place the oiled die in a sealed bag or case and store it in a cool, dry area. This protects the high-grade steel from moisture and humidity.
